Lowell, Great write-up. I agree. I wrote my name in last election. May do the same again. In California, it doesn't seem to matter anyway because of the electroal college which I am not a fan of. Maybe this time I will write in Lowell Cohn
I'll vote Harris with a clean and clear conscience. Trump is a hailstorm of lies and policy that helps his corporate elite "friends" and takes away rights of those of a lesser strata.
I also lean deep into the Progressive side of policy and the GOP, despite all their lip service won't lift a true finger to help the working class. I would have voted Biden just fine. Public speaking and press conferences don't change the fact he did a solid job coming into the hellhole he inherited post-2020.
RFK is a joke too. He's Trump-lite as far as I'm concerned (hence him sniffing around for a cabinet post). He's a conspiracy theory nutjob who shouldn't even be taken seriously.
If the GOP breaks free of the MAGA cult and wanna go back to their roots and run a real common sense guy with integrity and morals (like Kinzinge), let me know. Otherwise they are a shot out party that completely lost their way.
I'll be voting 3rd party. Most likely RFKjr. And will probably vote 3rd party for all positions up for election. I'm a lifelong Democratic voter, but the way they talk about saving democracy and their actions don't match up. They've become authoritarian in a lot of issues, but especially with how they practice democracy. Installing Harris as the nominee? Blocking people out of the primary. Whether you like RFKjr or not, what the DNC has done to him is abominable. I don't think I'll ever vote for a Democrat again. And I've long since denounced voting for Republicans. We terribly need a valid 3rd and 4th party in the county. #WeThePeople
Another good post. I can’t vote for Harris, for many of the reasons you listed. Beyond seeming like a stooge, her policies — the few we actually hear about — do not appeal to me at all.
And don’t get me started on the nonstop lectures on the need to protect democracy from her side, considering Biden was thrown overboard for a woman who received zero votes…
Great commentary. Your comments on the current Administration’s policies don’t sound sound like a liberal talking, more like realistic common sense. Call it what you will. I’ll take the mean tweets right now. The world is too dangerous for weak leaders with no real conviction.
I don't think you like free markets if you don't like Aiyuk trying to squeeze every penny out of this contract with the 9ers. That is how free markets work. You think J. D. Rockafeller didn't try to squeeze every penny out of every deal he did. He destroyed people N companies for a penny. That is how free markets work.
I respect and appreciate your perspective, Mr. Cohn. And I share your deep admiration for President Roosevelt. I think about how he, too, was smeared for championing policies to lift the average American worker. Social Security was called "socialism" by critics at the time as well, and now it is an indispensable part of the national fabric, an earned benefit for the people putting in the work every day. I'd never presume to say how to vote, but I hope you are persuaded in your own time.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Mr. Cohn! I find myself aligning with much of what you said, though I differ when it comes to your father’s views on “conservatives.” I believe in listening to and considering the perspectives of everyone, including conservatives. While Trump identifies as a Republican, he doesn't embody traditional conservatism. For example, someone like Purdy represents a conservative viewpoint, whereas Trump is uniquely his own. However, I am willing to support Trump if it means correcting the missteps of the Democrats, as I see politicians as tools for serving the common good. And sometimes you need a hammer to get the job done.
As someone involved in local politics here in the Pacific Northwest, I desire better choices. I believe that a Trump victory could push the Democratic Party to offer stronger candidates in the future. It frustrates me when the national party disregards my vote, assuming they know better—it feels like a slap in the face. If they are willing to dismiss my voice, then I’m prepared to vote for Trump, even if my vote feels insignificant. We need better choices

I'll vote for you, Ryan

Does anyone believe we can find common sense compromises in government anymore? The polarization of the electorate is insane

Truly an embarrassment to all women including our granddaughters. Your insulting spirit doth overflow.
Such personal venom.
Sleep well if you can
